"The student tests out her developing citizenship skills in a community setting through her involvement with an issue of personal/professional concern."

The student must:

• Analyze an issue or concern
• Describe background and context of the issue or concern
• Identify specific aspects that can reasonably be addressed within time frame

• Identify a community organization with which to work on this issue
• Identify the abilities required to function effectively within the organization
• Develop a strategy for action to benefit the organization

• Gather pertinent, credible, reliable information that can be used to deal with the issue/problem
• Use the information to answer questions, develop options, educate specific groups, or solve problems
• Present information professionally

• Choose an effective, workable strategy that is appropriate for the organization, the people involved, and the specific issue.
• Develop and implement a plan to elicit the cooperation of others
• Develop criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of the strategy/project/product
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy/project/product including direct and indirect consequences.
• Act professionally regarding commitments, deadlines, confidentiality, and policies of the organization.
