Why Do I have a Password and what should I know
about Passwords?
A password maintains security and makes sure no one
else can look at your files, email or use your printing quota. When
you create your password you should be able to remember it!
You should also keep in mind the following password
pointers:
-
Passwords should be six to eight characters long and can include letters and numbers but no special characters, spaces, or punctuations.
-
Passwords should start with a letter (Student web server requirement).
- Passwords should include a number (IOL and Educator requirement).
- Passwords are case sensitive.
-
Passwords cannot be reused.
-
Do not use obvious passwords like your user name.
-
Choose a password you will remember.
-
Do not write your name and password on paper left in a visible
location. For example, do not write your password on a
post-it note and then put it on your monitor.
-
Changing your network password WILL change your DDP and email passwords. Your DDP and Student Web Mail passwords are synchronized with your network password.
-
Changing your network password WILL NOT change your Educator, IOL or Student Web Server passwords. Your Educator, IOL and Student Web Server passwords are not synchronized with your network password.
